With Basic Pest Control, the comprehensive outside service you receive varies each season to match the biology of the pests that are the biggest problems at those times of year. This program was developed by our entomologist, Dr. Scott Lingren, using the concept of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM is an ecological approach to pest management that takes into account scientific knowledge and identification of the pests as well as the risks and benefits of pest management actions, giving you the most effective and safest pest control strategies available. In fact, a 2002 study demonstrated that IPM strategies reduced pesticide use by more than 90% – while remaining incredibly effective.
Bee Green™ takes improves upon IPM by using only pesticides classified by the EPA for low environmental risk. Dr. Lingren combined recent advances in insecticide technology with existing reduced risk products to develop this innovative approach to pest control and environmental protection. It’s a smart way to help minimize your impact on the environment while still eliminating your common pest problems.

Spring is probably the most important season for pest control. During this treatment, we make the several modifications to target pests all year. First, we add insect growth regulator to the perimeter treatment. This low risk insecticide affects the way insect molt and is active in the soil for up to 9 months. The second thing we do is thoroughly treat the eaves. This treatment will stop paper wasps from starting nests on your eaves. Finally, we apply fire ant bait around the perimeter. Spring and fall are the best times to knock back fire ants.
Summer is when our houses are under the most pressure from pests. We typically see increases in spider, scorpion, cricket and cockroach calls. We modify are treatments during the summer specifically to combat these pests. We add a synergist to our perimeter treatment to speed activity against spiders and scorpions and we also apply a granular bait around the perimeter for crickets and roaches.
Autumn brings a new set of problems with insects and rodents seeking overwintering sites. During the perimeter treatment, Route Managers pay particular attention to porches and patios that might serve as shelter for insects. They also inspect closely for rodent entry points and alert you to any they find. Finally, fall is the second perimeter fire ant bait application stop them until next spring.
During the winter, we have very little new pest pressure. That means our Route Managers can focus on actions that can affect pest abundance for the entire following year. In addition to liquid treatment of entry points around the perimeter, the Route Manager will dust cracks and crevices with long-lasting insecticide dust, remove overwintering dirt daubers, and knock down spider webs.
